On/off hire bunker survey
The charter changes hands on agreed figures.
When a ship is delivered into a time charter, or redelivered out of it, the bunkers in her tanks change owner with her. The charter party fixes the price per tonne. The quantity is whatever was measured that day. A few tonnes either way is a sum worth arguing about, and it will be argued about unless an independent figure was fixed on board, at the time.
Owners and charterers order it at delivery and at redelivery, usually through the agent, and ideally as a joint survey so that one figure serves both.
Have an independent surveyor on board at the moment the ship changes hands, and the figure is never argued about afterwards. That is what you ask us for.
